Voluntary Control of Involuntary Utterances (VCIU) was administered in order to expand the client’s functional word production.
Phase 1: *** (#) words were identified that the client could orally read independently. These were sent home as a home program.
Phase 2: *** (#) of words were named through confrontation naming with a photo, increasing to *** with written cue of the word. These were sent home as a home program.
Phase 3: The client / family reports that increased utterances have been noticed ***. The words targeted in VCIU were elicited in conversational roleplay, with the client able to utter *** words independently.
The patient’s baseline utterance number was *** words, and is currently at *** words through participation in VCIU.
