Have you tried a TED Talks in speech therapy? I love TED Talks because they are interesting, relevant topics created for adults (and some for middle school and up!), so it never seems school-ish or childish to use with adults in therapy. In case you missed the 8-week series put out this spring, here is a master list of links for ease of finding each talk’s free printable and goal ideas.

(I’ve noticed many people using these links daily–awesome! I hope this makes it easier for you. Yes, I am working on organizing my website to make things easy to find, but I’m an SLP by trade so in the meantime…)

Here is the TED Talks Master List! Each link goes to the TED Talk with free printable and goals to consider. Enjoy!

    1.The Great Penguin Rescue

(A favorite of mine to use across the age span because it is generally interesting and has a lot of number facts and opportunity for note-taking and retelling)

     2.  3 Things I Learned While My Plane Crashed

(Only 5 minutes long, this is a great starting point for comprehension/attention/summarizing).

     3. Dance vs. Powerpoint

(The topic lends itself to higher-level comprehension or persuasion goals)

     4. Go Ahead, Make Up New Words

(This was made for TEDYouth, so you can easily use for middle school and up, as it’s an interesting topic and just under 7 minutes long)

     5. Playtime with Pleo, Your Robotic Dinosaur Friend

(At 18 minutes long, this lengthy TED has realistic note-taking practice built in, perhaps for students or adults going back to meetings)

     6. Magical Houses, Made of Bamboo

(Stunning video; A favorite to use for the “handy-person.”)

     7. What’s Wrong With Your Pa$$w0rd?

(This TED is 18 minutes long with professional content, so relevant for those returning to a professional role or critical thinking demands)

     8.  The Power of Believing That You Can Improve

(I’ve stolen the “growth mindset” from this video as an SLP and parent! This TED is encouraging to anyone realizing the challenges of brain recovery and learning)
